Wow! What a weekend. The art fair was a great success, and Alicia and I got the chance to speak at a church in Orange County about Haiti for 15 minutes. It was funny, because the pastor talked to us before hand about what we were going to say. Alicia and I both thought that we needed to throw what we had to say out the window. So about 15 minutes before, we really had no plan of what to speak on. We prayed and God totally gave us the words and we got some more people interested! It just totally reminded me of Haiti... our plans WILL get rearranged.
Anyways - If there was a mode or gear we should switch into for the fact that we are REALLY going to Haiti in 18 days, let's switch into that mode. Start double checking in your head that you are in possession of your passport, your shots, your malaria and diarrhea medicine. If you have questions PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE ask us. We have been there before, so we hopefully can help you in your preparations. You should also begin purchasing items such as 100% DEET and other necessary travel items including a flashlight and a personal battery operated fan. You should bring stuff you are willing to leave there. It looks like we are using the large rubbermaid containers instead of suitcases to transport the donations in which will then be used as part of the rooftop garden. So you will need to fit everything in your carryons on the way home. Since it does not look like we will be using suitcases, ANYTHING you cannot pack in your carryons MUST be brought to the packing meeting. If you are bringing your javelin or antlers, there will be an extra charge.
Please remember that the Hungry? Haiti Dinner or Haiti Hunger Dinner (whichever you prefer calling it) is this Sunday. Please be spreading the word and telling your friends. Tickets are on sale after the services and we would encourage you to invite people that don't go to KHC.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Nan konmansman, Bondye kreye syèl la ak latè a.
if you don't know which verse that is, we need to talk lol
Alex is an incredible young man with a deep love for the Lord. He stands out as one with a very sensitive heart and seriousness in his relationship with Jesus. Alex also wants to be a pastor. He also loves to joke around and always trys to steal Mister Bill's watch. He likes to have fun and is well-liked by all the children.
Love-Mita's father died and her mother had severe mental illness. Because her mother was not able to care for her, she was given to an aunt. Unfortunately, the aunt had trouble supporting herself and two of her own existing children. She tried her best to help Love-Mita but could not always feed her. She would go long periods of time without food. Fortunately, she had a sister that loved her very much and would visit and help her. Her sister found out about Maison de Lumiere and sought a place for her here.
