Sorry for the late update, it's been kind of crazy today!
Can you believe in about 2 weeks we ARE GOING TO BE IN HAITI! ahh i am so excited. And the Haiti Hunger Hungry Eating thing this weekend! Woo hoo! And we are getting commissioned this weekend too! If you are not going to be able to make it, please let me know.
Some thoughts/questions/requests
ALSO. I don't think we have advertised this a lot... After ALL services we are having a bake sale to raise some cash money!
Have you been getting your prayer partners signed up?
Please be praying that all our stuff will fit in the bins/suitcases. We have a huge amount to take and it just keeps getting added on to haha.
So I am really DIGGING this Prayer for Cultural Transformation guide. Today's verse:
13Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." - James 4:13-15
Here is an update from Mimi about our garden:
Hi!
As you know, I was hoping this BACCTO soil could be delivered to Venice, Florida no later than this Friday.
Well, after a huge effort we learned that there is no BACCTO soil to be found in Southern Florida. :-)
Then one person I spoke to asked me, " Did you try the box® company? " Uh No...
The box® company invented and patented the "official" boxes®, the system which people like us copy with rubbermaid containers on top of roofs. It's what we are planning on doing... Anyway, I thought - the box® Company is a million dollar global company... but I went to their website anyway. I searched under FLORIDA.
There under Florida, there was a VENICE, FLORIDA Area Code and no. with boxes® Research Center listed. In less than a minute, I was speaking with Blake, the laid back Southern Florida owner and inventor of boxes®. He not only had some perfect box® soil for sale, he offered to deliver it for free to Agape Flights by this Friday.
When God wants soil - he will get it. We just have to keep looking. Praise Him.
Let's pray for Jeff the pilot and trust God for the shipment and that picking up the soil at the other end will not be a hassle for Mr bill.
- Andrew and Mimi
When we first met Jeff he was begging on the streets and merely trying to survive. His mother is alive but he does not know who his father is, although his mother claims he was an American Marine. Jeff is a very sensitive young man who loves to sing, worship and attend Bible studies. His favorite subject in school is reading and math. He also enjoys playing soccer and basketball.
Daphne was brought to us by an aunt who has cared for her since both her parents died. The aunt, who was very poor and had 7 children of her own, struggled to care for Daphne but could not adequately provide for her. Because of malnutrition, Daphne is very small for her age, weighing only12 pounds. She was very sad and withdrawn when she first arrived at Maison de Lumiere but now she has blossomed and is well-loved by all the staff and other children.

13Koulye a, se ak nou m'ap pale, nou menm k'ap di: jòdi a osinon denmen, n'a pral nan tèl lavil. Rive la, n'a pase yon lanne, n'a fè kòmès ak anpil benefis. 14Nou pa menm konnen sa lavi nou va ye denmen. Lavi nou tankou yon nwaj. Li parèt pou yon ti tan. Apre sa, li disparèt. 15Okontrè, men sa pou nou te di: Si Bondye vle, n'a wè denmen, n'a fè sa osinon sa.
